Artist Biography:
Paula Wilson (American, b. 1975) paintings are hybrid extravaganzas that combine both painting and printmaking techniques such as woodblock, silkscreen, and lithography, layering color, image, pattern, and material in a complex stratum of histories and cultures. She received her MFA from Columbia University in 2005 and has since been featured in group and solo exhibitions in the US and Europe, including the Studio Museum in Harlem, Sikkema Jenkins & Co., Bellwether Gallery, Fred Snitzer Gallery, Spelman College Museum of Fine Art and the Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw.

About the Work:
Delays on Route to the Stained Glass Ceiling follows the same theme of the Wilson's most recent work - pastoral and decorative motifs depict collaged layers of paper and pigment whose surfaces have a textured, patinated beauty. In Delays Wilson again combines a range of colors and light, mesmerizing the viewer in her colorful playgrounds.

Market Information:
Wilson is a prominent new talent. Her career is being propelled by a string of high profile acquisitions, including the Saatchi and Norton collections as well as Yale and Middlebury University. Her young career already includes placement in museum shows and art reviews in ArtForum and the New York Times. Wilson produces very few large works per year, and we are unaware of any similar works by her on the market. Truly a unique opportunity to own a work by an artist whose availability is rare and whose career will be astounding in the coming years!
