Artist Biography:
Tracey Emin's (British, b. 1963) provocative career is predicated on an
aesthetics of disclosure. She uses her life events as inspiration, revealing her hopes, humiliations, failures and successes through a range of media.
Emin has exhibited internationally for 20 years, first coming to fame as part of the YBAs (Young British Artists). Among numerous shows and
accolades, she was short-listed for the Turner Prize in 1999 and, most
recently, represented England at the 2007 Venice Biennial.
About the Work:
Taking the form of a hand-written letter, Fighting for Love is neatly situated in the progressive tradition of feminist art and a fine example of Emin's raw, sexually charged work. Holding on to the love that keeps us human, Emin's words are at once sentimental and brutal. Fighting for Love,
as an edition of 300, is a simple piece that alliterates the economic and
sentimental value of contemporary art.
Market Information:
A signed work by one of the most important feminist artists of our time, for
$450? We don't believe anything more needs to be said. Except perhaps that this work typically can be seen retailing for at least 50% more. |
